Ikea have come a long way from their flat pack furniture reputation! They now produce beautiful and affordable home decor and furniture for a variety of home styles. Stay tuned to see what I’ve picked this summer as the best affordable Ikea pieces for a cottage-inspired home!

1) Farlov Seating Range

The Farlov series from Ikea include sofas, sofa beds, a footstool and an armchair all of which are so versatile. They come in a variety of sizes for any type of room, for our small home I picked the armchair. When we move into our new period home, I would consider buying more from this range, definitely another armchair and maybe the 2-seat sofa and footstool!

The whole series is stunning and the pieces are classic with the added bonus of customisability. As with most Ikea sofas, there are many companies out there that make custom covers, which means you can have the form of the sofa but in a different fabric or colour. This is so great for making them look more expensive with maybe a linen type fabric.

Where the price tags of these pieces are all above the two hundred mark – I still consider them extremely affordable for what they are. The Farlov one-seater armchair was on sale recently and that makes it even cheaper to get your hands on a really great piece of furniture at a fab price.

2) Lohals Jute Rug

This rug is nothing short of an absolute bargain. Let me tell you, this rug is HUGE at 2m by 3m! And all for under 100 pounds. It is a perfect staple for any cottage, farmhouse, French country or rustic style home and can act as a great floor cover even in large rooms.

Pictured above with the Farlov one-seater, you can see it is a great anchor for all your new or vintage furniture and it is a great way to cover unwanted carpets, as we have done here with our grey new-build carpets. If you want more tips about how to bring character to a new-build, then check out my previous blog post.

The Lohals rug is available in other sizes if you don’t have the need for such a huge rug. Those are even cheaper so definitely check them out along with the other affordable Ikea pieces I’ve listed!

3) Arstid Lamps – Affordable Ikea Lighting

Both of the lamps featured above are from the Arstid range but with different shades. The shades that these lamps and sconces come with are beautiful but more traditional and they didn’t work in this particular space. I did keep them in case I ever find a space for them that would suit a more traditional shade, but for now the sconce shade is from Dunelm and the lamp shade is from The Range.

4) Byholma Wicker Baskets – Affordable Ikea Storage

The Byholma baskets are a great staple for the home for both decor and storage. They come in two different shapes and sizes and I have incorporated both of them in our home. I love the smaller size for on shelf storage, they are a great way to hide remotes, cables or DVDs, anything that doesn’t go with your carefully curated decor!

5) Hultarp Kitchen Rack – Affordable Ikea Storage

An antique brass rack is the perfect way to display vintage pans and brushes and cloths in your kitchen. This type of decorative storage can work with many different styles of kitchen, whether you have tiles or shiplap or just plain walls. Ikea do this type of kitchen rack in black and chrome styles too, if the hardware in your kitchen isn’t antique gold.

Again with lots of Ikea items, it is quite customisable. You can join them together to suit the length of your space – and add various hooks and other attachments for storing your kitchen bits.

I love mine and I will definitely be having a kitchen rack in our new home for all my copper pots and pans.

6) Sockerart White Jug

A classic white jug from Ikea, that is available in 2 sizes. I love mine for arranging foraged flowers and blossoms from countryside walks. The neck is wide enough for a good sized floral arrangement and so its a good option for anyone looking to display fresh or faux florals.

These jugs can add something to any table scape both decorative and useful as they can be used to hold summer cocktails or cordials.

7) Sandlupin Bedspread

This bedspread is on my Ikea wish list. It is beautiful with a delicate floral print and a ticking stripe reverse side. Either side matches a country cottage style so well. This is a great piece of bedding for adding a layer on top of your duvet or just adding some hotel-like comfort. The print is so versatile and can work year-round with the floral side for spring and summer and the ticking stripe side for autumn and winter.

8) Vanderot Lumbar Cushion

This lumbar cushion/pillow has been a staple in my home for a few years now. The design adds texture without having to have colour or patterns to make a statement. It goes so well with a coastal feel room, the textured stripes almost look like waves! They are great layering cushions for the bedroom or living room and would even work in an outside lounging space, it also comes in a square shape if you aren’t looking for a lumbar shape pillow.

I am going to aim to update this list every few months, to keep up to date with the seasons and new arrivals from Ikea. To keep in the loop I would love it if you would subscribe to the email list for the blog. If you want to find me elsewhere then check out my other social media links which should be at the top of this page.

Stay safe everyone, I will see you in the next one!
